Dr. Alyssa Johns is a postdoctoral fellow at Specialized Psychological Services completing her licensure hours under the clinical supervision of Dr. Daniela Colognori. Dr. Johns received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston University and her Master’s degree in psychology from New York University. She went on to earn her Psy.D. in school psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University. During her graduate studies, Dr. Johns received specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) while working in major medical centers (NYU Institute for Anxiety and Mood Disorders, NYU Institute for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity and Disruptive Behavior Disorders), community mental health centers (Youth Anxiety and Depression Clinic, Psychological Services Clinic) as well as private and public school settings. Her clinical and school-based work has focused on serving children, adolescents, parents/caregivers, and families, by providing therapy services, school consultation, and diagnostic and learning evaluations. Dr. Johns has expertise in assessment and treatment for youth with anxiety and mood disorders, behavioral and attention disorders, and commonly co-occuring social and learning difficulties. Her research interests and publications include the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based assessments and interventions for bullying and other mental health related issues. In addition to practicing at Specialized Psychological Services, Dr. Johns currently works as a school psychologist and teaches a middle school course on Emotional Intelligence at the Pingry School.
